This article has a review of Final Fantasy VII in it. Note the "VII" at the end which constitute Roman numerals - the Roman numerals for "seven" in fact. Presumably, there were films called "Final Fantasy" and "Final Fantasy II" through "Final Fantasy VI". That means, six times now somebody has said 'let's call our new film "Final Fantasy n + 1"' without seeing the irony.
