A vegemite sandwich
Debbie called me today. Unfortunately, I missed her call, but it was OK because she later texted me, as follows:
It was so nice to hear from Debbie particularly as it is not my birthday and I had no idea who she is. I texted back to suggest she might have the wrong number and we had a nice text message conversation across half the World.
By the way, if you are an Australian in the UK, and it is your birthday today or thereabouts and you are wondering why your friends have not called you - Debbie in particular, it's because you gave them my mobile phone number.
Hey there! HAPPY BIRTHDAY from all your friends 'down under' We all miss u heaps & hope u r celebrating the proper Aussie way!! Just tried calling u, but couldn't get thru... give me a call soon. Take care! Luv xxx Debbie.

Google bomb
On a whim today, and because the question of recruiting statisticians came up on a forum, I decided to google for my little brother who is a statistician. I knew he'd be on there somewhere, but it appears he gets the top four hits.
I think that counts as reflected fame. I would have been more impressed with his presentation to Age Concern if whoever had converted it to PDF had managed to get the slides onto one page.
